Dick Whittington

Abingdon Drama Club (ADC) brings pantomime back to the beautiful Unicorn Theatre, with this classic tale of a young lad going to London to seek his fortune.  Dick Whittington (Rosie Clarke), alongside his best friend Tommy the cat (Bex Wright), battle hordes of sinister rats with the help of an assortment of colourful and hilarious characters.

Masters of the genre, ADC bring all the fun and frolics of the traditional family pantomime to the Unicorn Theatre in Abingdon, with all the singing, dancing, slapstick, “it’s behind you” and “oh no it isn’t” jokes and terrible puns you can shake a stick at! (With Dick's knotted handkerchief on the end of it, of course).

From the heart of London Town to the palaces of Morocco, Dick and Tommy battle against the evil King Rat (Maria Crocker) and his hordes of sinister rats, with the sometimes-helpful assistance of Fairy Tinkle of Bow Bells (Lynne Smith). Plenty of action, audience participation and groan-worthy jokes (oh yes there is!).

Director, Mike Ward, says, “As always with Abingdon Drama Club, it was a very difficult challenge to cast the pantomime because of all the truly great talent we have. For obvious reasons, this hasn’t been the easiest time to put together a theatre show. The dedication, brilliant sense of humour, effort and team spirit from all the cast and crew has been amazing”.

Boo and hiss at the villains, cheer the heroes and experience a magical adventure, for children of all ages.

Owing to Covid-19, we had to postpone our great new pantomime. Our new dates are as follows:
