If like me, you love exploring our stunning Countryside with glorious country walks and wish you could bring a little nature into your home, then look no further than the work of artist, Liz Corley.
Liz founded Liz Corley Art after moving from London, and was inspired by the beautiful Cotswold countryside on walks with her Labrador dogs and two children. She creates artwork of wildlife and nature and prints her work onto homeware products and gifts, from water bottles to mugs to coasters and bags. Liz has also created an amazing collection of hand-painted wood art, which can be hung outside in your garden for year-round enjoyment as well as inside to brighten a conservatory or garden room. The wood art is award-worthy and Liz was a finalist in the 2021 Blenheim Palace start-up competition for entrepreneurs.
“Moving to Oxfordshire from London totally changed my outlook on life,” says Liz, “and capturing the beauty in nature and the Countryside in my artwork became a passion. Developing my work into a range of products and gifts seemed the natural progression, as I wanted everyone to be able to have a piece of nature in their home.
I am also keen to preserve our countryside for future generations and so have ensured my products are sustainable wherever possible. Creating my wood art range involved lots of experimentation to get the right exterior varnish, one that was both environmentally friendly and effectively protected the work from our inclement weather. Using reclaimed wood for the art means the artwork is both kind to the environment and beautifully rustic.”
Liz is keen to work alongside nature and is committed to helping the plight of the bees as well as giving back to the woodlands.
She explained: “It is more important than ever to look after our planet and it is vital for me to be able to give something back to the environment and nature I love. I have been working closely with a local independent beekeeper, making small batches of honey to accompany my bee products and I am developing more wood-based pieces including hand-painted bespoke chopping boards and locally sourced live-edged English Oak tea-light holders.”
Liz Corley Art can be found in several local independent retailers including Cogges Manor Farm shop and the Cotswold Glass and Crafts in Burford.
