Can You Offer Your Support as a Volunteer or Player With Didcot Cricket Club?

As the warmer days of summer are ahead of us, with the English cricket season getting under way, the Didcot Cricket Club is looking forward to an exciting season playing at Boundary Park.

This community based club offers competitive cricket to players of all abilities. Their senior teams play cricket in the Cherwell Cricket League on Saturday afternoons. This season they have added a fifth team to their Saturday Cherwell League sides, so now will be represented from Division 1 to Division 8.

The club also has a thriving Junior section (for all children) offering cricket for a range of age groups from the age of 5 upwards, including Under 9, 11, 13, 15 & 17 and the ECB All Stars programme. Teams play in competitions from U9 to U19. Their 5th team will provide greater opportunities for their junior players to make the step up to playing adult cricket.

In 2023, they also launched their women’s and girl’s section, the Didcot Spirit who will be playing in 8 league and cup competitions during 2024. The club is also hoping to attract more female players during the forthcoming season.

If you would like to get involved with the Didcot Cricket Club, whether you are looking to play First Team cricket or want to dust the bat off for one last innings, the club will give you a warm welcome. This is more cricket than any other club in Oxfordshire! On top of this, their Junior section has more members than ever and with the appointment of the new Director of Cricket – Hansie Olivier –  it will be the best place in Southern Oxfordshire for Junior Cricket.

They are also looking for volunteers to help with running of the club. In recent years they have built the foundations for significant growth for cricket in Didcot and would like to see this flourish, not only in 2024 but beyond. The committee are seeking to expand the number of volunteer roles to reduce the burden on any single individual. These are the areas they are keen to attract volunteers to:

  •  Safeguarding Officer
  • Sponsorship and Funding Coordinators
  • Social Media and Engagement
  • Junior Coaches
  • Umpires and Scorers

If you would like to help the club achieve the success, they know they can, whatever your skill or time commitment, even if you’re not sure how you can help, they would love to hear from you. Email Scot vicechair@didcotcricketclub.com to find out more.
