Celebrating Tower Hill Vixens 25th Anniversary

divider

Witney’s Tower Hill Football Club has a rich heritage of enabling players of all ability, gender, ethnicity, and religion to participate in the sport. They encourage children from six years and above to adults, to play competitive football in a safe and controlled environment under the supervision of qualified coaches. Affiliated to West Witney Sports and Social Club, their grounds are located on the Burford Road in Witney, OX29 0NB.

Tower Hill FC is affiliated to the Oxfordshire Football Association and are also an England accredited club with youth teams from Under 6 to Under 18, one Women’s, two Men’s teams and an Inclusive Team for players from teenagers to adults.

The Club was formed back in 1971 and this season sees the 25th anniversary of Tower Hill Vixens which started in September 1999. The Vixens provide a range of girls teams from U7 to U16, all of whom play in the Oxfordshire Girls League on Saturday morning. With a pathway into Ladies football from the age of 16, supported by their quality coaches, Tower Hill FC’s commitment to developing The Vixens is something of which they are extremely proud. As the new football season gets underway, Tower Hill FC will be hosting a series of anniversary events, but it would make their year even more special if any local companies would like to get involved in sponsoring the girls team’s anniversary kits.

Recently awarded Squad Girls, which is an FA initiative to encourage girls aged 12-14 to engage in a fun, recreational offer that allows them to develop themselves as well as their football skills in a safe environment, Tower Hill FC invites girls of all ages to take part in football with no previous experience required. The Squad Girl’s sessions are held on Sunday mornings at Windrush Primary School in Witney. For further information please contact the Club using the form on their website towerhillfc.co.uk or email their Club Secretary at secretary@towerhillfc.co.uk

The success of the Tower Hill FC is down to the contribution of all the parents and their volunteers from the Executive Committee to the Managers/Coaches who are all qualified to at least FA level 1, have undertaken their Safeguarding Children and First Aid Emergency course. Every official of the Club, both administration and coaching, have completed full DBS checks.

If having read this article you would like to get involved with Tower Hill FC in some way, either as a coach, sponsor or join their football family, simply contact them using the contact form on their website towerhillfc.co.uk or message them via Facebook/TowerHillFootballClub.

Experienced Coaches have said that the 13- 15 year old teams often struggle as the boys mature. Some have a change of heart and move in a different direction, some become passionate about the game. Some parents bring their lads along to try and give them a focus, a physical outlet or to give them a direction in which to find themselves. Our team has struggled with these challenges and as Coaches we have deliberately sought to develop the team with a focus on the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS).
