Witney Rugby Club Put the Focus on Enjoyment

divider

Witney Rugby Club are lucky to have local and national business partners who support our vision to deliver a successful and thriving rugby club within the local community. This means along with like-minded partners who share the same values as we do, we are able to enrich lives, introduce more people to rugby union and develop the sport for future generations.

With 8 league games played so far, our 1st XV Team sit mid table in Reginal 2 South Central with a 100% home record and picking up losing bonus points away. The second and third XV Teams also sit mid table in their respective leagues. On the face of it this may not seem exciting, but our three men’s sides are in leagues where we are one of the smallest clubs often coming up against much bigger clubs from bigger towns where the number of available players far exceeds those available in our area. The majority of our players are home grown and have been developed through our own amazing Mini and Junior section, it’s a credit to all those involved from the Under 4’s team all the way up to the Under 18 teams with over 100 volunteers helping out every Sunday.

We are one of only a handful of clubs who are truly inclusive with men’s teams, ladies and girl’s teams, junior rugby, walking rugby, touch rugby and SEND rugby all made possible by the support of businesses like your own. To think that a Club in West Oxfordshire has facilities to rival teams in larger towns such as Farnham, Guildford Reading Etc is quiet something.

A not-for-profit club with a dedicated committee team to deliver excellent facilities to all in West Oxfordshire is something to be proud of I’m sure you will agree. The focus as always is on enjoyment, inclusivity, and the local community.

If you wish to get involved further or know someone who would please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Experienced Coaches have said that the 13- 15 year old teams often struggle as the boys mature. Some have a change of heart and move in a different direction, some become passionate about the game. Some parents bring their lads along to try and give them a focus, a physical outlet or to give them a direction in which to find themselves. Our team has struggled with these challenges and as Coaches we have deliberately sought to develop the team with a focus on the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS).
